Senior Year Advising & Graduation

In addition to reviewing the Graduation FAQ from the Office of the Registrar, students should use the following resources and checklists to ensure their successful graduation from The Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

Checklist for Students Graduating THIS Semester

Students should:

  • Add themselves to the Pending Degree List (PDL) via UI Integrate Self-Service by the 10th day of classes if they have not in the previous semester.
    • Engineering will then start sending information about the Graduation Convocation Ceremonies.
    • Degrees cannot be certified for students who are not on the PDL.
  • Register for the Graduation Convocation Ceremonies if wanting to attend.
  • Run a Degree Audit by the 10th day of classes. Ensure all requirements are complete.
  • Address shortages with their departmental advisor as soon as possible.  Waiting to address issues may delay graduation.
  • Ensure all test scores and transfer credit has been sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions if not already.
  • Visit Records staff at the Advising Center on the 4th floor of Grainger Library for any questions or concerns about degree requirements.
  • Adjust their schedules to address shortages, by the 10th day of classes.
    • Engineering will start reviewing students' degree requirements by mid-semester, if they are on the PDL.  Students will receive emails if there are any issues or incomplete degree requirements.
  • Missed Deadline: Students will not be certified to graduate if they are not on the Pending Degree List.  Students who missed the deadline need to complete the Late Addition to the Degree List Form as soon as possible.
