College Advising

• FALL EXPRESS ADVISING:
  • August 19 - 22 & August 26-30: 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm
    • August 23: no express advising in the afternoon
    • August 29: no express advising in the morning
  • September 2: Labor Day - no express advising
  • September 27: no express advising
  • December 5: limited express available
  • December 12: beginning at 2pm
  • December 18: no express advising
  • December 20: express ends at 3pm
  • December 23: virtual express advising only ending at 2:30pm 
  • December 24 - January 1: no express advising

College Advising Appointments are available Monday - Friday from 8:30-4:30pm. They are 30 minute appointments with a college advisor or academic Dean. To schedule an appointment, please log into the "UPO College Advising Appointment" Calendar using Netid and password. Please select the drop down box for a list of available advisors and scheduling options.

It is important to indicate whether the appointment will be in-person, virtual/Zoom, or via phone. Additionally, please provide the reason for the scheduled appointment so that the advisor or Dean can prepare accordingly and ensure that all questions are answered. 

Once scheduled, a confirmation email will be sent that reiterates the modality of the appointment. Please note important information about the types of appointments:

• • In-Person Appointments:  Should include location of the appointment.
  • Online Appointments: Should include Zoom information. If none is included, a Zoom link will be provided before the appointment.
  • Phone Appointments:  Advisors will call at the number student provided at the start of the appointment. 

Schedule College Advising Appointment

College Express Advising are available Monday - Friday from 1-4pm during the fall and spring semesters. Special summer hours will be provided in updates. During Express Advising, students may visit with college academic advisors, academic Deans, or Records Staff for brief or time-sensitive questions/situations. If we are experiencing a high volume of students, we may ask those with more extensive questions to schedule an appointment.

Express Advising is offered both in-person and virtually. Students can be seen in-person at the Grainger Academic Advising Center, located in the east wing of the 4th Floor of Grainger Library. Please check-in at the reception desk. For virtual express, students can join the Grainger Advising Queue. Once in the queue, students will receive an email from engineering@illinois.edu confirming their queue status, followed by an email from an advisor when they are ready to meet. Please note the advisor will wait for 7 minutes from the time they sent the email. If a student fails to enter their Zoom room within that time, they will be removed from the queue.
